A simple, nourishing blend of Bird Family foraged Alaskan chaga, organic roasted chicory root and warming chai spices.
Ingredients
Bird Family Foraged Alaskan Chaga, Organic Roasted Chicory Root, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger, Clove
Preparation and Description
Preparation
Use 1–2 tsp of powder per cup of liquid, depending on how strong you like it. The simplest method is stirring it directly into a mug of hot water and letting it steep for 5–10 minutes. Because you're drinking the whole powder (not straining it out), this method also adds a bit of extra fiber to your cup — something many people like. If you prefer to prepare it the conventional way, you can strain it — or leave the residue in the cup to discard, rather than drinking it. If you prefer a smoother cup, try brewing it in a French press instead. It also blends easily into coffee or any other beverage of your choice.
Description
Chicory Chaga Chai
Our Chicory Chaga Chai is a simple, nourishing blend of Bird Family foraged Alaskan chaga, organic roasted chicory root and warming chai spices. Naturally rich and satisfying, it offers a smooth, roasted flavor with notes of cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and clove.
At the heart of the blend is a generous amount of our Bird Family foraged Alaskan chaga, paired with roasted chicory root, a traditional botanical long enjoyed as a naturally caffeine-free coffee alternative. Together, these ingredients provide antioxidant-rich nourishment and are traditionally used to support immune function, digestive health and a healthy inflammatory response.*
Like all of our wild chaga products, the chaga in this blend is hand harvested by the Bird family from living birch trees in Alaska's Matanuska Valley. We believe knowing where your medicine comes from matters, and we never compromise on the quality of the ingredients that go into our formulas.
Bird Fam Foraged
We are Dennis and Gabrielle Bird, founders of Chai Medicinals, and for the past five years we have foraged and wildcrafted our botanicals ourselves — with the loving help of our sons and our dogs — through the Alaskan seasons. Ours is not a bulk commodity operation — we have a direct relationship with the land, the plants, and the medicine we make. We harvest all of our own chaga, shaggy mane, birch polypore and devil's club — as well as most of our Turkey Tail and Amanita Muscaria by hand from the boreal birch forests of the Matanuska Valley and surrounding regions of Alaska. Here we have clean, ocean-influenced air, long subzero winters, and untouched terrain that creates some of the most potent nordic growing conditions in the world.
Our seasonal harvests are done with joy, intention and respect. We harvest in a way that allows the land to sustain, always leaving enough behind for regeneration. We pay close attention to temperatures, timing, size, and quality so that what reaches you carries the full potency and integrity of its wild Alaskan origin.
Mushrooms by Nammex
We source our mushroom extracts from Nammex because they hold to a standard most of the industry skips. Rather than mycelium grown on grain — which tests low in active beta-glucans and high in starch fillers — Nammex mushrooms are grown or wildcrafted deep in the mountains of China by their Certified Organic production partners, using the actual fruiting body: the real mushroom, not the underlying root-like network grown on rice or oats.
Every batch goes through hot water extraction, then evaporation and spray drying into a 1:1, 4:1, 8:1 or 16:1 extract — nothing added, nothing removed. That process is what actually makes the beta-glucans — the primary immune-active compounds in medicinal mushrooms — bioavailable in a drink or capsule. And Nammex doesn't just claim potency; they test every batch for verified beta-glucan content, along with other fungal compounds like ergothioneine and ergosterol, as part of what they call their mushroom testing fingerprint.
For us, that means every tincture, tea, powder blend, and capsule we make is built on mushrooms we can actually stand behind — not marketing language, but tested, verifiable potency.
