The Chai Medicinals Story
The origin of Chai Medicinals starts with two people who became scientists through lived experience—figuring things out the hard way, following instinct, curiosity, and years of hands-on learning. When they came together, those separate paths locked in, and Chai Medicinals was born from that shared drive to understand and create medicines in alignment with the earth.
Dennis spent over 30 years as a highly skilled cannabis cultivator during the height of California's growing era, developing a deep technical understanding of plants, systems, and production. Gabrielle, raised in Woods Hole, MA among a lineage of doctors and scientists, chose a different route. She followed a self-directed path through South America, immersing herself in ceremony, plant and fungal medicine, and ethnobotany — guided by both intuition and study.
When their paths converged, they fell in love — the kind of love and partnership that is only found once in a lifetime for the luckiest. Chai Medicinals was born from that love — on a simple hot plate in Sebastopol, California. From those early days, they learned side by side — cultivating mushrooms, foraging, and deepening their relationship with the earth's sacred geometry.
Dennis brings a mechanical mind, the hands of an artist, and the ability to build anything from the ground up. Gabrielle brings vision, drive, and a fierce entrepreneurial spirit. Together, they formed a partnership capable of turning raw knowledge and lived experience into something tangible for healing.
Over the past six years, Chai Medicinals has grown far beyond the two of them. It now includes a team of dedicated "angels" whose contributions have become an essential part of the company's fabric. What began as a small operation has evolved into Chai Medicinals LLC, with a brick-and-mortar location in Palmer, Alaska, and products shipping across the United States — with further expansion underway.
