Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction
Our tinctures are crafted in Palmer, Alaska using ultrasonic-assisted extraction, a low-temperature method designed to preserve the full spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds without the use of harsh solvents or high heat. We also use a triple-extraction process to maximize phytochemical diversity and extract efficiency.
Our ultrasonic extraction system utilizes a high-frequency sonotrode (Heisler, Germany) that emits sound waves into the liquid medium. These waves create cavitation, gently disrupting plant cell walls and releasing compounds that may otherwise remain inaccessible. The result is a highly concentrated botanical extract with enhanced bioavailability and reduced dosing requirements.
These are potent, full-spectrum botanical extracts. Use responsibly and follow all provided guidelines and disclaimers. We provide ongoing botanical educational opportunities to our network. Please join our email list to be invited to these offerings.
Organic Cane Ethanol
We use certified organic 190-proof cane ethanol sourced from Organic Alcohol Company in Oregon. Distilled from organic sugarcane and crafted to pharmaceutical-grade purity, this high-proof alcohol serves as an exceptionally clean extraction solvent, helping preserve and concentrate the full spectrum of beneficial plant and mushroom compounds while meeting rigorous organic standards.
Miron Glass Bottles
All tinctures are bottled in authentic UV-protective Miron glass, manufactured in Europe. Unlike standard packaging, Miron violet glass selectively filters the light spectrum, allowing beneficial UV-A and infrared light while blocking harmful visible light that accelerates degradation.
This helps preserve:
- Botanical potency and molecular integrity
- Aroma, color, and energetic profile of the extract
- Shelf stability over extended periods
Additional benefits include:
- Tamper-evident, high-quality glass dropper system for safer, more consistent dosing
- Reduced oxidation risk compared to standard clear or amber glass
- Premium-grade packaging designed for long-term botanical preservation
- Miron glass bottles are designed for durability and re-use
Wild Alaskan — Bird Family Foraged
We are Dennis and Gabrielle Bird, founders of Chai Medicinals, and for the past five years we have foraged and wildcrafted our botanicals ourselves - with the loving help of our sons and our dogs - through the Alaskan seasons. Ours is not a bulk commodity operation — we have a direct relationship with the land, the plants, and the medicine we make. We harvest all of our own chaga, shaggy mane, birch polypore and devil’s club - as well as most of our Turkey Tail and Amanita Muscaria by hand from the boreal birch forests of the Matanuska Valley and surrounding regions of Alaska. Here we have clean, ocean-influenced air, long subzero winters, and untouched terrain that creates some of the most potent nordic growing conditions in the world.
Our seasonal harvests are done with joy, intention and respect. We harvest in a way that allows the land to sustain, always leaving enough behind for regeneration. We pay close attention to temperatures, timing, size, and quality so that what reaches you carries the full potency and integrity of its wild Alaskan origin.
